LOS ANGELES (AP) — Andre 3000 of OutKast believes it’s OK that the makers of a Jimi Hendrix biography film did not have the rights to Hendrix’s music because they didn’t need it anyway. Andre, who’s credited as Andre Benjamin for the film, says they’re telling the story of Hendrix before he became a star with all the hits. He says we’ve all seen the videos of Hendrix setting fire to a guitar, but we don’t know the story of Hendrix as a struggling musician who nearly gave up. The film, called “Jimi: All By My Side,” opens tomorrow.
