Perspective At Large

This perspective can best be described as the ‘Mother of all perspectives” as it attempts to give recognition to media professionals at the international level … household names who we can all identify with.

I am quite impressed with Vincent Makori the host of the VOA’s Africa 54. He is very articulate and as a veteran journalist brings a unique perspective to his 30 minutes magazine type show that focuses on Africa. Makori has interviewed From US president Bush to various other African presidents or leaders.

I have always thought of featuring some media personalities like Anderson Cooper of CNN and Peter Mansbridge et al of The National, that excellently produced news magazine staple on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

This is a perspective with a difference that warms my heart to participate in. These are Journalist/Anchors who bring news alive. They add so much to the story either by their perspective or their vast experience as presenters. Their credibility quotient is very high indeed. Anderson Cooper is also good with his video camera which he takes on assignments at times.

Avanpour is female but is fearless …. she is never afraid to go to a war zone/scene and bring us back the news. She has that trademark approach to ferreting out the news. I do admire her skills and fortitude.

Anderson Cooper goes where the action is and is very versatile … just name it and Anderson covers it. From a war zone to peace talks to host of a town hall give Anderson the job and consider it done.

Mansbridge will handle the most touchy subject in a very professional way. He is quite a pro … watched him cover the shooting of a soldier in Ottawa at the Senataph at the Parliament Building. This was Mansbridge at his best. His language, the many angles, his interviews, his composure, you name it. There is so much to learn from him.

We salute all media practitioners who strive to be real professionals your calling is an honourable one.
