Cabinet Approves $1.36 Billion for Works on Housing Projects
Cabinet has approved contracts valued at approximately $1.36 billion to carry out infrastructure works for housing projects in Clarendon.
These are the Sevens and Longville Park housing developments and Monymusk Country Estate.
Education, Youth and Information Minister, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, made the disclosure on Wednesday (June 7) at a post-Cabinet media briefing at Jamaica House.
He informed that a contract in the sum of $788,117,622.47 has been awarded to Build-Rite Construction Company Limited to carry out civil infrastructure works at the Sevens housing development in Bird’s Hill, Clarendon.
Surrey Paving and Aggregate Company Limited has been awarded a $288,369,785.65 contract to undertake similar work on phase 2a of the Longville Park housing development, while Asphaltic Concrete Enterprise Limited will carry out civil infrastructure works at Monymusk Country Estate in the amount of $281, 331,512.10.
Meanwhile, Senator Reid told journalists that Cabinet also approved a Special Benefits Order to the Estuary housing development in Friendship, St. James, effective December 20, 2016.
This, he explained, will facilitate the allocation of 170 housing solutions to contributors who meet the National Housing Trust’s qualification criteria.
