Perspective: HUAWEi WOES

Is This A Disguised Trade War?
The arrest of Meng Wanzhou the CFO for HUAWEi is a significant International business development.  It is not my intention to interfere with Meng’s legal woes,  however, injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.  If this is so?
Perception in this case is akin to fact. It is my perspective that Canada should not allow itself to be used as a pawn in global super power passa passa.  We say in Jamaica ‘cockroach no business in a fowl fight.’  The cockroach could get eaten.
PM Justin Trudeau said “This is a matter for the court to decide” he was breaking his silence on the matter.
Extradition
Extradition Treaties are important cross border tools needed to make our world a safer place.  Was it intended to be used to settle trade wars?  We think not. It is our further perspective that the real purpose behind the extradition treaty concept was to help nab dangerous terrorists and hardened criminals, like drug don’s and human traffickers.  Huawei is not so involved,  is it?
For Canada to allow itself to be a police to be used to settle scores between China and the USA is not healthy for world trade. For example lobster and pork exports to China from Canada could be affected.  China could retaliate by restricting other imports from Canada. This could ruin the Canadian economy.
Humanitarian Concern
Canada has prided itself with an impeccable record of respecting the human rights of all especially on its shores.  I lived in Canada and can attest to their sound human rights record.  Meng Wanzhou is ill with a chronic condition.  She needs close medical supervision. Prison does not afford this.  The Honorary citizenship for the former Burmese strongwoman Aung San Suu Kyi was revoked over the Rakhine crisis.  The Tibetan issue where 600. 000 were displaced with the Royanja people made stateless… with supicion and or charges by Canadian officials of ethnic cleansing due to alleged human rights abuses under Aung San Suu Kyi as defacto leader.  In 1991 she got a Nobel prize for her humanitarian non violent efforts in Myanmar. Aung San is accused of complicity as the army cleanse the place ethnically.
Aung San Suu Kyi is the head of the former Ragoon Burma,  renamed Myanmar who is effectively under military rule with a puppet civilian administration.  The army pulls the strings although upfront you see civilians.  The real power brokers are the army not Aung San Suu Kyi. This is enshrined in their constitution.  A strange power sharing arrangement indeed.  Reports that the HUAWEi executive is suffering a serious health problem and is being held in detention could further cause her health to deteriorate .. this is distasteful and inhumane to say the least. Shame on you power brokers in Attowa.  The Tibetans are seen as oppressors and contribute to the  human rights crisis. Aung Sang is accused by Canadian officials as being complicit in relation to the alleged human rights abuses.
Can you imagine Meng spending Christmas imprisoned?  Canada should practice what it preaches.
Jamaica
Huawei Persecution?
In a related case in Jamaica,  with a HUAWEi connection, Symbiote, trading as Caricel has been under tremendous pressure.  The JLP government finds itself caught up in concerns  expressed by the Americans et al that Caricel is potentially able to get access to sensitive data which has International security implications.  The Americans are among the countries pressuring the Jamaican government to revoke a telecoms license granted to Caricel.  It is no secret that Huawei technology is the choice equipment being used by Caricel. The PNP government just before leaving office in 2016 had granted conditional approval to Caricel to operate in Jamaica.  There were persistent rumours that the Americans were not comfortable with Caricel getting a license to operate in the telecoms industry in Jamaica.
Sovereignty
Vision newspaper rejected this apparent interference in the domestic affairs of Jamaica … arguing that Jamaica is a “sovereign nation”. (Search our archives).
Sunday’s leading, and highly respected newspaper operating over 100 years in Jamaica reports that Jamaica’s High Court, aka ‘The Supreme Court’ has given the green light to legally revoke Caricel’s operating telecoms license.  Britain and Canada seem to have been partners in crime with the Yankees (Americans)… in this apparent clandestine operation. Amazing!
Why HUAWEi
In a nutshell Huawei is the largest supplier  of telecommunications network equipment in the world and the second biggest cellular smartphones maker next to Samsung.  With revenues of 92 billion … it is no secret the HUAWEi’s operating system is virtually impenetrable.  Their unique incryption system means hacking and penetration of data is virtually impossible.  Would this incryption block spying? Is this what has infuriated the Americans? As usual you be the judge … the verdict as always is yours.
Fees
Failure to comply with license fees is being put forward as,  at least one of the reasons for the revocation of Caricel’s license.  We may never know the true reason(s) behind the impending revocation of Caricel’s license. Do you believe the authorities? Did you expect them to speak the truth openly? Do not hold your breath, please do not.
Bail
A bail hearing in Vancouver, Canada is taking days.  The extradition could take years.  The Chinese have deep pockets and a long protracted fight is expected. What is your perspective?  This is ours. Let us hear from you. Interesting times ahead, eh!
Non-aligned Foreign Policy
PM Trudeau says” It is for the court to decide, I have every confidence that the court will do the right thing” breaking his silence on the HUAWEi arrest.  Canada needs a non-aligned foreign Policy. Pierre Trudeau and Jamaica were the champions for same in the 70s.
