General Colin Powell “Ambushes” Trump

June 08, 2020 | By Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie |

“Trump Lies … I Will Not Vote For Him In Nov. 2020”.

The former Secretary of State, and four star general now retired is a known registered Republican.

General Colin Powell recently blasted President Donald Trump in a no holds barred interview on CNN June 7, 2020.

He has turned his back on President Donald Trump, his supposed Republican Comrade.

General Colin Powell is of Jamaican parents and is a citizen of the USA. He was the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Of Staff under the Presidency of George W. Bush.

For 35 years he has served the American people in their armed forces rising to the level of a four Star General.

He is the 65th Secretary of State for the USA and the first African-American to hold such an office.

Speaking on CNN’s “State Of The Nation” General Powell came out as if in camouflage, waving his long gun … ambushing Donald Trump as he bunkered down behind a new 8 feet fence at the White House.

It was a week that Trump wishes would go away quickly. It seriously damaged his image as a steady hand at the wheel. Trump has seen former US generals like General James Mattis, General John Kelly and now the latest General Colin Powell who on June 7, 2020 deserted Trump on CNN.

Trumps Reaction

President Donald Trump reacted negatively by tweet to Powell’s remarks in that CNN June 7, 2020 interview.

Dr. Ben Carson

Ben Carson, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

Responding to questions posed to him Dr. Ben Carson distanced himself from Powell in a diplomatic way.

“I do not demonize people … I would not tell General Powell how to conduct himself ” declared Carson, a former army veteran, while choosing his words very carefully.

“I was horrified to see officers standing there” (beside Trump for a photo opportunity in front of the boarded up St. John’s Episcopal Church). Continuing Carson said:

“We need to be concerned about that … step back … our country is extraordinary … people used caravans to get here.  Trump is retweeting the record of a black man killed at the hands of white police officers, (George Floyd). Racism has always been around. Let us not do silly things.”

Asked if he experienced racism in the army. He said: “Certainly, but I did not want to appear to be a victim”

Dr. Ben Carson is Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Trump administration.

General Colin Powell was not holding anything back. “Trump Lies”.  He does not seem to respect our constitution. In 2016 he lied about the volume of the crowd at his inauguration. He has insulted many, including his staff.  I did not vote for him in the 2016 presidential election and i will not vote for him for president in 2020.”

Background Facts

In 1992 Gen. Colin Powell survived a crash landing in Jamaica.

While visiting Jamaica with his wife of 58 years, the military helicopter transporting them had an engine failure. It had to be skillfully crash landed by the Jamaican military pilot at the outfield of the Norman Manley International Airport. Powell said: “It was my second crash that I have survived.” He did not elaborate.

General Powell has a MBA.

I got the scoop and wrote the story of the top secret accident carried on the front page of the Record Newspaper in Jamaica.  The paper is now closed. That was the high point of my extensive journalistic career. It is the first time that I have disclosed this fact publicly, almost 20 years later.

We wish Gen. Colin Powell 83, all the success. Will Joe Biden ask him to serve if elected president in November 2020?
