Jamaican teenager charged with shooting death of 11 month old baby in island’s capital
KINGSTON, Jamaica _ Jamaican authorities have charged a teenager with the shooting death of an 11-month-old baby boy in the island’s capital.
Investigators say the youth was arrested early Sunday in Gordon Town, a small town in the foothills of the mountains that tower over Kingston. Police did not identify him because he is a minor.
The baby was shot dead April 6 in the yard of his tenement home in downtown Kingston. He was identified as Omar Lindo. His 6-year-old brother was injured by gunfire.
Investigators allege the accused teenager and at least one other gunman were targeting a man who was fixing his motorcycle at the side of the road. Police say the pair chased the man, shooting wildly and hitting the two youngsters.
