Perspective: Live Hearing Of Findings Into Mob Attack On Capitol Hill

June 10, 2022 | Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie | The Republicans have blocked attempts to have an independent enquiry into the events leading up to, and on the mob attack on January 6, 2021 at Capitol Hill, USA. Despite their moves, the hearings are proceeding. Will these hearings sway public opinion away from the Republicans? What impact if any will these hearings have on the upcoming midterm elections in the USA? Only time will tell.

Will the American electorate dismiss these hearings as a witch hunt and a political move on the part of Democrats to embarrass Trump and put their opponents the Republicans in  a bad light? To get answers to the above questions will not be easy. Likely, under the circumstances virtually impossible.

The Hearing

Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump speaking on the 2020 US election results made her position quite clear. In short Trump’s own daughter did not buy his contention that the elections were fraudulent. She accepted the results and rejected the views and position of her own father.

Giuliani lost his license to practice law. He was the personal lawyer to President Trump. Giuliani was prepared to put his conscience and professional integrity on the line in face of irrefutable evidence that Trump had lost the elections. He went along with Trump and was filing lawsuits tan attempt to reverse the results. Why?

Giuliani was being corrupted by President Donald Trump. Giuliani should have known better and in my perspective did know better, but refused to do the right thing. It was amazing how some persons are prepared to put their integrity on the line.

Donald Trump urged his aides as a form of talking point directed them to take the following line: “Just say the election was corrupt”

President Donald Trump was urging his aides on what to say as he tried to control the narrative. You could call it his cunning communication strategy.

Trump kept changing Justice department staff. Asking them to not certify the elections in the respective especially key states which could prove to be the decisive states to swing the election in his favour.

This would have had serious implications to the rule of law and the American Constitution. Since then many prominent Republicans call the President to seek presidential pardon before he left office.

President Trump was wrong no one person can choose a president” Vice President Mike Pence stood up against Trump.

John Eastman was a legal Clerk 

John Eastman did not believe what he was stating. Dr. John Eastman and other Trump lawyers and\or loyalists knew that their arguments had no validity.

Trump made call to an unknown Georgian official(s) to find 11,000 votes. The game plan was that these votes would have been reposted in his (Trump’s) favour. This was an attempt at blatant corruption. When all those attempts failed and he lost court case after court case he resorted to plan B which was to enforce his position by force. January 6 was the D day for the launch of this now historic attack on Capitol Hill.

Trump summoned a mob on June 6, 2021 and refused to take steps to stop the attack.

All hell is going to break loose tomorrow Bannon said on his podcast, the night before (January 5, 2021). This was the evening before the actual mob attack. A written warning was drafted. It is. Its known how well circulated it was.

“Anyone who entered the capital without due cause should leave” A White House staff wrote during the mob attack. It was after multiple hours of violence that Trump issued a video asking his mob to leave Capitol Hill.

Plot

Behind the scenes a plot was being hatched to replace the president. There was also a threat by White House staff to resign unblock. Democracy is fragile  We do not defend an individual, but instead the Constitution. In the Rotunda was tomb of past president. We have an obligation to ensure that this never happens again.

President Donald Trump said inter alia:

“Mike Pence has to come through for us. He has to send back the certification of States back to the election officials and we will win and you will be happy. Mike Pence must defend the Constitution”. (To loud cheers of approval by the mob)Mike Pence if you do not not stand up for us we would be very disappointed.”

This gives you an insight of President Trump’s utterances and motivation. This was obviously an attempted coup, incited by the President of United States. This is the first hearing into the Mob attack on the Parliament building of the USA at Capitol Hill. The seat of the US Congress and government.
