Returning Jamicans To Pay US$20

Foreign Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith has said returning Jamaicans should pay US$20 to help defray the cost of their stay. These returning Jamicans will be housed at a public facility. This is a negotiated settlement. They are coming from US$100. She was speaking at a news conference recently.

These Jamaicans stuck overseas will be allowed back into the island on condition that they be put into quarantine. COVID 19 has caused this new directive. It is the cost of this quarantine for 14 days that will cost US$20 per day.

There has been loud public outcry for Jamaicans stranded abroad be allowed back home as soon as possible.

The government wants this, but have stipulated that their return must be controlled.

Two Additional Cases

Two additional COVID 19 cases have been confirmed. The new figure to date is now 471.
