As Karee Shea puts down her pencil and paintbrush, she sits and contemplates what she has just completed after years of dedicated work.  She says, “I just want to write and create stories that inspire minds and leaves children with a positive sense of self.”  She has finished the final lines of her story, The Bee Leaf, written and illustrated by Karee Shea Walker.

Karee is born and lives in Toronto, Canada.  As an author, visual artist and creator she has produced a medium body of work in the area of literature.  She is an artist who loves the power of art to express, connect, heal, build and inspire.

Her business Kareative Interlude is a partnership utilizing the arts to open eyes, hearts and hands to the visual and creative expression that lay within your being.  Kareative Interlude aims to enable participants, clients, customers and audiences to develop their voice, vision and representation to their full creative being through the art in intelligence, imagination and intuition.  Kareative Interlude has embarked on the journey to release their first children’s book, The Bee Leaf.

A story about a young girl named Marikeyta who lives in the city with her mother.  The Bee Leaf centers around Marikeyta and her mother’s relationship, which requires Marikeyta to go on a challenging journey of rites of passage to seek what she must find.

“I am here as a writer connecting story with messages of those untold.  When I wrote this story I let the words come to me and attempted to just create moments that are authentic to the reader.” – Karee Shea

For Karee, the creative work of The Bee Leaf has been very spiritual, empowering and cleansing for her all at the same time.  The Bee Leaf as a story grows on you from the story, the symbolism to the illustrations.  Through her innovation she explores the importance of character, confidence and courage.  A confidence she aims to instill in her children.  She says, “As I wrote the story one of my key inspirations was to have books of my own, that I could share with my children that they can learn and grow from.”

Kareative Interlude is proud to present: The Bee Leaf Book Launch, which will consist of an art exhibit of the story, a reading and an opportunity to meet the author and illustrator Karee Shea Walker.  The Bee Leaf Book Launch is Saturday, September 26, 2015 at A Different Booklist at 746 Bathurst Street in Toronto, Ontario from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“Art is the means by which I have been fortunate to draw in, sculpt in and paint in to manifest pieces that enable me to shine my light.  It serves as a reminder of arts impact not only for the artist, but original experiences shared with audiences via original pieces.  Organic moments, woven together to inspire!” – Karee Shea

We hope to see you there, to come together and be apart of this momentous occasion celebrating the creative process, artistic work and literary innovation of The Bee Leaf.  The Bee Leaf Book Launch: Saturday, September 26th, 2015 – A Different Booklist – 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
