Canadian Sponsored RESTORATIVE JUSTICE WORKSHOP …
A project of the Ministries of Justice & Natural Security was held recently in Andrew Holness’ Constituency. It is an alternate way to dispense justice in a non adversarial manner … it avoids prison term and both victim and suspect join hands. This system is used in Canada and elsewhere across the world to settle certain disputes. It was used in South Africa after Apartheid ended.
It is a Canadian funded programme and has been adopted in Jamaica for over 5 years.
Picture shows Government officials giving out booklets on the programme and answering queries. They have vision as you can see on their banner. What else can we say … but welcome to the club.
Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie, Senior International Correspondent & captured picture and wrote brief account of the programme. Will do full story later in vision newspaper Canada.
