Grange saddened by death of young footballer

dominic_jamesKingston, September 20, 2016 – The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has expressed profound grief at the death of young footballer, Dominic James.

The St George’s College student collapsed shortly after the start of his school’s Manning Cup game with Excelsior High at Stadium East this afternoon (Tuesday).

Minister Grange said:

“Like the rest of the country I am very sad to receive this news. No one expected this. Young Dominic, by all indications, had been doing well. He represented his school well. He was the captain. And had a very bright future. So this is quite a shock. All of Jamaica will mourn with his family and with his school at this time. We all must keep them in our prayers and in our hearts.”

We at Vision join in expressing condolence at the loss of young Dominic James 18, a talented sport leader. From under 14 football to now under 20 Dominic has captained at both levels. He also played at the senior level of the sport.

He was disciplined, pleasant and had exceptional people skills. He led St. Georges College to two Manning Cup wins. He stood supreme as a champion on and off the field of play … he will certainly be missed.

To his family, friends and all we express our profound condolences. May his soul rest in peace. Gone too soon.
