Tiny Costumed Revellers Will Celebrate Carnival in Malvern

July 21, 2023 (Toronto, ON) – Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s youth will be taking to the road on Saturday, July 22nd from 11am to 8pm, starting at Malvern Community Recreation Centre, along Neilson Road and ending at Neilson Park with family day programming. Opening Ceremonies takes place from 10:30am – 11:00am..The parade is an opportunity for young revellers to showcase their  pride in their Caribbean heritage and welcome others to experience the fun and take part as well.

“The Junior Carnival parade is truly a sight to behold,” exclaimed Mischka Crichton, Festival Management Committee CEO, producers of Toronto Caribbean Carnival. “We’ve worked hard to create an event for young carnival goers to participate in the festivities in a family-friendly environment.” The Junior parade comes one week after Junior King, Amari Bowen-Otchere of Tribal Carnival, and Junior Queen Myauna King-Thomas of the Toronto Revellers  were crowned at the Scarborough Town Centre at the Junior Carnival Showcase. 

“It’s so important to us that young people get a chance to experience Carnival,” explains Jennifer Hirlehey, Chair, Festival Management Committee. “Children are the future, and it is imperative that they have the opportunity to learn, experience, and participate in this staple of their cultural heritage. They are the future of Toronto Caribbean Carnival.”

The Junior Carnival Parade is not only a platform for young participants to showcase their talents, but also an opportunity to foster creativity, confidence, and cultural appreciation. Prepare to be delighted by the youthful enthusiasm, colourful costumes, and captivating performances that will make memories that last a lifetime.

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s month-long festivities continues with the following scheduled events:

  • OCPA Calypso Showcase: Sunday, July 30th at Latvian Culture Centre

  • King and Queen Showcase: Thursday, August 3rd at Lamport Stadium

  • Pan Alive Panorama: Friday, August 4th at Lamport Stadium

  • The Grand Parade: Saturday, August 5th, Exhibition Place and along Lakeshore Blvd.

  • Pan in de Park: Sunday, August 6th at Malvern Recreation Centre/Malvern Park

  • TCC International Food Festival: Sunday, August 6th at Malvern Park
