‘KALPEE’ EMBRACES THE SUCCESS OF HIS EP & WORKS ALONG WITH TRINBAGONIAN STALWARTS

Kingston, Jamaica, October 26, 2020 – After the buzz created in several Caribbean islands and in the United Kingdom for his collaboration with Stefflon Don on summer anthem ‘Gimme De Ting’, international recording artiste Kalpee has now released his brand new EP entitled Feel Good Playlist Vol. 1’ now available on FVP Records via Absolute Label Services Worldwide.

The EP which boasts tracks written with an array of Grammy Nominated producers and writers also includes breakout single ‘Put A Record On’ which was co – written and produced by fellow Trinbagonian producer Michael ‘Tano’ Montano.

Tano who is based in Trinidad, rose to commendation after working closely with Kalpee on his very first single, ‘No One’ which landed Kalpee a global distribution deal with Sony Music and went on to rack up over 7 million streams worldwide. Tano is also known for his production on Rema’s FIFA 21 ‘Beamer’ official playlisted single, went on to collab with Kalpee on other tracks including ‘What About Us’ and ‘Wherever You Are’ featuring Trinbagonian artiste Jimmy October, with the latter receiving air play support from Radio 1. The two really do work magic together with all eyes now on this new single.

‘Put A Record On’ pays homage to the legendary Bob Marley’s single ‘Three Little Birds’ after Kalpee dealt with the failed suicide attempt of a close friend. He said, “When a mutual friend of myself and Tano, unexpectedly attempted to take his life, it made us realise that sometimes people hide in times of sadness or loneliness; smiling on the outside but suffering in silence in the inside. In Trinidad, men are not taught to talk about our feelings, we don’t cry, we are strong. In reality, everyone has dark days and periods in their lives that require support. The simple action of asking or engaging with someone who might be feeling low into a conversation can help shift their energy, give them a new perspective, and most importantly it reminds them that someone’s thinking of them and they are not alone.”

The single was recorded in aid of encouraging listeners to focus on the positives in life and to keep strong in times of despair. The breath-taking video, to be released on Kalpee’s YouTube Page this coming week, was shot at the UK coast on breath-taking Mersea Island, reflecting on the beauties of life. The ‘Put A Record On’ artiste is now on a mission to spread ‘Good Vibe and Positivity’ with ‘Feel Good Playlist Vol.1’. He added, “Feel Good Playlist Vol 1’ is intended to do just what it says in the title “make people feel good”. It’s what, I like to call ‘Chilled Calypso’ which is music that you could easily head bop to. It was created with the help of some amazing producers, writers and other artist too, and collectively combines my musical heritage of Calypso and Soca with the music that has inspired me growing up, including rock, pop and reggae. I am grateful for all those involved”.

‘Feel Good Playlist Vol. 1’ fuses Caribbean sounds of Reggae and Calypso with contemporary R&B and Pop. Kalpee is passionate about being part of a new movement across the West Indies which focuses on introducing local artiste onto an international stage through a collective genre entitled ‘Island / Pop’.
