Three Jamaican students  from Spanish Town are recipients of the Michael ” Beatbopper” Hudgins  back-to -school scholarship fund.

The first student, who attends a preparatory school, received her fifteen thousand dollars donation, last Tuesday.

Accepting, the student’s mother reacted with joy.

“I don’t even know this man,(Michael Hudgins), but i am praying that God will continue to bless him. I was just thinking where the money would come from because it’s time to get her uniforms for school. God bless you all.”

The others- one attending high school,  and an adult institution, will be receiving their donations this weekend.

They will each be receiving twenty thousand dollars to help with their back-to -school expenses.

To be considered, the students’ parents must be associated to an organization promoting peace;  enrolled in school, and falls in the category of needs. The process of winners in school will be monitored by a peace organization.

This year’s funding is earmarked for- mainly, students whose fathers were murdered in Spanish Town, as such the students’ names, or any other information which could identify them, have been withheld.

Mr. Hudgins, in an interview with Vision Caribbean TV says, this year’s donation is a start of what he intends to be an annual affair.

” Last year, I made a promise to give generously to  fatherless children because, God knows, it is very hard when a breadwinner’s life has been cut short by criminals.

“I  have selected Spanish Town because this is a community which has had a number of flare-up leading to violence, with innocent men and even females  murdered.

“This is only the beginning of greater things as come next year the  number of students will be increased to ten. This will allow more students to be better equipped for  school .

” I am quite aware that a number of companies have back -to -school treats during this time of the year,  but certainly there is room for much more to be done.”

Mr. Hudguns, who hails from Virginia, US, association with Jamaica began some five years ago.

“I  am a part of the success story of albums which includes a number of Jamaican artistes, such as Third World Don and Kabaka Pyramid.

It is amazing that Spanish Town has such a wealth of talent in terms of music. For example, deejay Lahjihkal who is from the community “To The Team” song is one of the best sellers  on my award winning album Miungu Ya Muziki, while his single “Need My Love” went  no 8 on US Itunes Top 100 charts

“As executive producer of Miungu Ya Muziki, this international album has done extremely well  on several charts, including no 1 on the Cuba- Caribbean Amazon charts and No. 2 on US ITunes.”

Hudgins is  releasing two other albums- Certified Gold in August and Dei Della Musica this September, 2022.

“I am hoping to continue giving back to Jamaica from proceeds of these albums and is encouraging-not only Jamaicans but other to buy this music.”
