The Finance Minister Dr The Honourable Nigel Clarke announced in his 2021 budget presentation that a digital currency will be launched in 2022.  This is a cashless currency much different from what we are accustomed to now.  This is not Bit Coin or Christo Currency. Bit Coin & Christo Currency are private currencies.  The one being promoted by Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke will be backed by the Central Bank or Bank of Jamaica (BOJ). This will be an officially recognized currency.

 Bahamas
The tiny set of islands known as Bahamas is the first country in the world to have issued digital currency legally. Jamaica needs to study from friendly neighbours how this new system works.
We will have to await the roll out.
