2,500 Children to Benefit from Mobay Mayor’s Charity Ball

Another 2,500 children from communities across St. James stand to benefit from the third staging of the Mayor’s Charity Ball, which will be held on December 7 at the S Hotel in Montego Bay.

Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Homer Davis, said he anticipates that the event will be a success, with more than 300 patrons expected to attend.

Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke, is slated to deliver the keynote address.

Mayor Davis was speaking at the media launch of the event at the Grand-A-View Restaurant in Montego Bay on November 6.

He informed that the proceeds from last year’s ball, amounting to almost $2.5 million, were used to treat and provide much needed supplies for some 2,500 children, shut-ins and the less fortunate in time for Christmas.

“I am very confident that this year’s Mayor’s Charity ball will be a success and that we will be able to continue the tradition of making our children happy, our elderly happy and making our needy ones in this parish happy,” he said.

He gave the assurance that any donation made to the Mayor’s Charity Ball will go towards its intended purpose.

The Mayor, in the meantime, encouraged Jamaicans to “remember the less fortunate ones, especially at Christmas time”.
